Trooper Landon E. Weaver

Trooper Landon E. Weaver Pennsylvania State Police, PA
End of Watch: December 30, 2016 BFTF Representatives That Attended Funeral: Charles Giardella PO 5732 Marine Bureau and BFTF Treasurer Damon Marro PO 6223 5th Precinct and BFTF Vice President Louis Tutone PO 4339 PBA 1st Vice President The Funeral for Trooper Weaver took place at the Blair County Convention Center in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Since this was close enough to be considered drivable, President Jim Johnson requested a marked unit from the Department. Our Chief of Department, Stuart Cameron, granted that request to facilitate the trip and to allow us to be a part of the funeral procession. We appreciate that very much. Lou made the trip on his own and joined Charles and Damon in PA. They made the trip there and back in one day. Damon reported that the funeral procession was extremely long and citizens lined up for over 15 miles along the roadway with American Flags and signs of support. The following was shared by Damon. Overwhelming... That is the word that kept coming to our minds, overwhelming. That single word summed up many aspects of this deployment for us; we were overwhelmed with the sense of the loss of yet another brother. We were overwhelmed by the show of support and love from the community. But what was most overwhelming, truly inspiring and heartbreaking all at once, was the courage and grace shown by Trooper Weaver's very young widow Macy. They only had six months together as man and wife before Landon was taken from her. Macy had the strength to stand before thousands of mourners and speak about her lost love. She spoke of shared dreams, tender memories and a love that she vowed would never die. After drying our eyes, we had the honor of driving a marked Police vehicle in the procession from the funeral to the burial site. The men, women and children of Altoona and the surrounding area, braved the sub-freezing cold and the windblown snowflakes to stand along the entire length of the procession. We were touched deeply by the hundreds of citizens who held signs and flags, who waved and saluted us and thanked us as we drove through their community. Landon Weaver will never be forgotten and we will never forget our time spent in Altoona, PA. Thank you Charles, Damon and Lou for representing us so well.
