End of Watch: January 24, 2018 BFTF Representatives That Attended Funeral: Rocco Baudo SGT1229 3rd Precinct Crime Section
John Cerato LT 7th Precinct John shared the following with us: Rocco Baudo and I had the privilege of representing our department and the BFTF on a recent deployment to Colorado. The fallen officer, Deputy Heath Gumm, was just 32 years old and by all accounts a rising star on his job. The funeral procession was estimated to be seven miles in length, with thousands of citizens lining the streets with signs, placards, flags, salutes and hands over hearts. As always, officers from all over the country, and at least one from the UK, were in attendance. Hopefully, the 23 year old perpetrator will have many decades behind bars to contemplate what he did. Heath was posthumously promoted to Detective by the Sheriff. RIP Detective Gumm.
